ACKLEY, JOSEPH, was the successor of Edmund Whedon in the mercantile business about the
beginning of this century. He removed to North Granville, N.Y. about 1812, where, in connection
with Capt. Oliphant, he established an extensive brewery on the site of the ladies' seminary.
