FAIRFIELD, WILLIAM, was the second settler in town, and, as such, received a gratuity of thirty acres of land.
Personally, for aught we know, he was a worthy man, but having adhered to the royal cause his property was confiscated and himself sought a refuge in Canada West, where his descendants still remain.
