MAHER, JAMES, from Ireland, about 1783, settled on the present homestead of Samuel Culver.
He died in 1824, aged 78, his wife in 1814, aged 68. We know of but three children: William, Catharine and Margaret.
William was an ingenious mechanic, and was among the first in the country to manufacture cut nails.
Margaret married John Ottarson, who died in 1829, aged 44. Their son, B. Fitch Ottarson, was post master at Granville, N. Y., from 1861 to
1867.
