Biography of History of Rush County Indiana
ROBERT B. COOK was born in Union Township, April 16, 1848. His parents were
James and Nancy Cook, old and honored residents of Union Township. His boyhood and
youth were spent up on his father's farm, one-half mile west of Glenwood. He received a
good common school education, but adopted farming as his life business. On October 17,
1871,he chose for his wife Frances D. Johnston, daughter of Atwell and Larinda
Johnston, who were old residents of Richland Township, where Mrs. Cook was born in
1850.To this union were born three daughters: Laura, Attic M. and Fannie Ball, all of
whom are living. Mr. and Mrs. Cook are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Politically, he is a staunch Democrat. In the spring of 1885, he was elected to the office
of Township Trustee, which position he now holds. He has carefully managed the affairs
of the township, and takes great interest in the schools. Mr. Cook owns a comfortable
home near Glenwood, near where he was born and reared. He is an upright and
