Moretown, January 3, 1854; he is a physician and surgeon and located in town in 1877; was educated at the common schools,
Randolph Normal School and N. Y. Homeopathic Medical College; was a member of the House in 1884, 1886 and 1900; has held the
offices of director of the public schools, village trustee and was a candidate for secretary of state on the Democratic ticket

Nelson Dewey Phelps of Barre City, Republican, was born in
Waitsfield, February 27, 1859; he is a merchant and located in
town in 1884; was educated at the common schools and at Barre
Academy; was mayor of Barre in 1901. Religious preference,

George F. Sibley of East Montpelier, Republican, was born
March 5, 1833; he is a manufacturer and farmer; was educated at
the common schools and at Morrisville and Northfield Academies;
was a member of the House in 1886; has held most of the town
offices, is justice of the peace and a director of Capital
Savings Bank and Trust Co. of Montpelier. Religious preference,

WASHINGTON COUNTY REPRESENTATIVES
George Herbert Pape of the City of Barre, democrat, was born
in Williston, Sept. 30, 1876; he is a general insurance agent,
and located in town in 1891; he attended the common schools of
Hyde Park, and graduated from the Spaulding Graded School at
Barre in 1895; he has been city auditor and is now one of the
school commissioners. Religious preference, Congregationalist.
William Jason Clapp of the Town of Barre, Republican, was
born in Barre, May 12, 1858; he is a farmer, and was educated in
the common schools; has held the office of selectman for seven
years. Religious preference, Congregationalist. Post-office
address, Barre City.
George K. Perrin of Berlin, Democrat, was born in
Cincinnati, Dec. 8, 1855; he is a farmer and located in town in
1869; he was educated in the public schools of Cincinnati, the
district schools of Berlin in 1888, law agent from 1899 to 1903,
justice of the and at Barre Academy; was lister in 1887,
selectman peace from 1896 to 1898 and has been auditor since
1900. Religious preference, not stated.

Merton D. Wells of Cabot, Republican, was born in Woodbury,
March 13, 1866; he is a merchant and located in town about 1874;

Augustus A. Bliss of Calais, Democrat, was born in Cabot,
Sept. 10, 1832; he is a farmer and located in town in 1895; was
educated at the common schools; he was a member of the House in
1878; is a justice of the peace. Religious preference,

Herbert G. Ward of Duxbury, Republican, was born in Duxbury,
1871; he is a farmer; has held the offices of justice of the
peace the last three years, and has been lister three years and

Hiram L. Sparrow of East Montpelier, Republican, was born in
Elmore, February 17, 1852; he is a farmer and located in town in
1875; was educated in the district schools of Elmore and Calais;
held the office of selectman from 1889 to 1891. Religious
preference, Universalist.
Edward Anson Fisk of Fayston, Republican, was born in
Waitsfield, February 1, 1842; he is a farmer and located in town
in 1895; was educated in the common schools and at Barre Academy;
served as a private in Company B, Thirteenth Vermont Regiment,
and was wounded at Gettysburg; has been school director four
years and selectman six years in Waitsfield, and has been
chairman of the school board in Fayston since 1897. Religious

Herbert Sales Carver of Marshfield, Democrat, was born in Calis, May 28, 1861; he is a physician, and located in town in
1884; was educated at Hardwick Academy and the Medical department
of the University of Vermont; has been superintendent of schools
and has held other town offices. Religious preference,
Independent.
Julius H. Daniels of Middlesex, Democrat, was born in
Waterbury, April 21, 1837; he is a dealer in groceries and feed,
and located in town in 1887; was educated in the schools of
Waterbury; took his seat as a mamber of the House in 1898, but
was unseated by the republican candidate after serving seventeen
days. Religious preference, Baptist.

Republican, was born in Waitsfield, July 7, 1852; he is a lumber
dealer and located in town in 1887; was educated in the public
schools of Waitsfield; served as alderman from ward two in 1897-

Leon A. Child of Moretown, Republican, was born in Moretown,
March 3, 1860; he is a farmer, and was educated in the common
schools and at the Vermont Methodist Seminary; was lister for
five years and has been road commissioner since 1894. Religious

Marshall Davis Smith of Northfield, Democrat, was born in
Montello, Wis., Jan. 31, 1862; he is a printer and located in
town in 1892; he graduated from Norwich University in the class
of 1881. Religious preference, Congregationalist.
Arch. Batchelder of Plainfield, Republican, was born in
Chicago, April 30, 1855; he is a lumber manufacturer and dealer
in feeds, and located in town in 1855; was educated at Goddard
Seminary and Norwich University. Religious preference, Universalist.
William T. Keyes of Roxbury, Democrat, was born in Rumford,
Maine, August 23, 1843; he is a fish culturist, and located in
town in 1894; was educated in the common schools; he served in
the Tenth and Twenty-ninth Maine Regiments; was deputy sheriffi n
Colebrook, N. H., from 1886 to 1890. Religious preference, none.
Oscar G. Eaton of Waitsfield, Republican, was born in
Bakersfield in 1853; he is a manufacturer and dealer in lumber
and feed, and located in town in 1881; was educated in the common
schools of Warren; has held the offices of auditor, contsable and
deputy sheriff. Religious preference, Methodist.

Charles Wells of Waterbury, Republican, was born in
Waterbury, June 22, 1845; he is a retired bank cashier; was
educated in the common schools of Waterbury, at Barre Academy,
and at Kimball Union Academy, Meriden, N. H.; he served as a
private in Co. B, Forty-first Wisconsin Regiment; was town
treasurer from 1887 to 1890 and village treasurer in 1896.
