For the last few years engaged in agrarian pursuits. Acquired a
competence while teaching, by real estate investments. Not ambitious for
political honors; "perfectly content in mine own sphere."
In 1865 married Mary F. Moore, of Catskill, N.Y.
Children: ten; three died in infancy. One married daughter died,
leaving three small children.
