1865-80, Engaged in shoe manufacturing business with father
and brother.
1880-84, Firm Newhall & Collins (Wesleyan, ''79).
1884-87, In shoe manufacturing business for self.
1887, Accepted position with Lynn Mutual Fire Insurance Co.,
also carrying on a General Insurance business.
1903, Elected Secretary of the company, which position he
still holds. Greatly interested in Young Men's Christian Association
work. One of the Charter members in Lynn in 1868. New building
dedicated Jan. 17, 1881, costing $57,000. First President in the new
building for a year; trustee for twenty years. Belongs to Sons of American
Revolution, Lynn Historical Society; Lynn Board of Trade, member of Corporation
of Lynn Old Ladies' Home. Among the first in the Epworth League movement,
Member of Cabinet in First District New England League for two terms.
Married, June 14, 1893, Miss Lucy Ellen Bacheller, teacher,
graduate of Salem Normal School.
