Born, feb. 13, 1845, in Newton, Middlesex County, Mass. Left college at
close of Freshman year.
1861, Enlisted as a private in Company H, 32nd regiment, Massachusetts
Infantry. (An only son, the first to respond to an earnest appeal from his
father to the young men to defend their country, at a patriotic meeting, called
for enlistment.)
Died Jan. 14, 1863, in the National Hospital, Armory Building, Washington,
D.C.
