KING'S name does not appear in the catalogue issued in the autumn of our Freshman
year, in 1859, but it is on our Class roll in the "Gul." in May, 1860, and he is there recorded
as a resident of Providence, Rhode Island. The name is also on the Commencement
program roll. It is not to be found in any later catalogues, and King does not appear to
have belonged to any of the college societies.
After leaving college, according to our 1866 Class report, King went into business in
Philadelphia, and Felch is authority for the announcement of his marriage as taking place
in the spring of 1866. The report of 1869 adds nothing to the information of the previous
years. But in 1873, King is referred to as having died some months previous to the issue of
the report. He died in Providence, Rhode Island, leaving a wife and two children. "Shortly
after," Atwood records, "his wife followed him, dying literally of a broken heart. King was
in business in Philadelphia up to about six years ago (to 1867), when he removed to
Providence, and there associated himself in business with his father and brothers. He was
succeeding well, and is spoken of as a loving husband and a kind father."
